    • This is a test post, a place where I'm playing around in both the old and the new universe.
    • The rules in each place are similar, and evolving! :-)
      • Assume domain allocation can fail.
      • On blogposts, I want the title to show up at the top of the page in big letters, instead of My Big Outline. Not even sure where this is coming from.
      • Roots become workspaces -- with the ability to define domains. Just like the main root does. (After this change there is no longer a main root, at least as a concept. The code remains in there. Not sure how it will surface.)
      • Setting the title in the prefs doesn't set it. this is because it doesn't change it in the OPML. that's where the change must take place.
        • While there, also finalize walk. Then let's release both of these, and get it some testing.
        • It should work just fine on old installations.
      • directory becomes a nodetype
      • Easy way to make a new root outline.
      • Twipsies for the labels at the top of each column.
        • The Edit buttom must also include information about the domain.
      • You can't create a new thing without it automatically being given one.
      • The sysop sets up the server with the basic info. The domain to use, and how you want to refer to this server.
      • Then it generates hostnames by mashing together the username and serialnumber of the outline.
      • The domain name for this outline is davearchive021.mediahackers.org. That's because my username is dave and the outline is my 21st. I've given the server the domain mediahackers.org to play with.
      • If you're going to run this software, start thinking about what domain you want to use. There will be lots of CNAMEs created on this domain.
      • Finally, we are using domain names routinely in software. It feels like a registrar when you use it. You create a new outline, refresh the list, and at first the title is not hot. Hmm wonder why. Then you realize it's taking a while to register the name on the net. FInally, you refresh and it's hot. Click the link, and it works.
      • This is an important place to get to. Worth noting.
      • Seems hard to manage.
      • Why not use Radio2 to distribute links to things you want to have links, when you want them to go out.
      • You can have multiple feeds, so that can't be the problem. Is it too much work?
      • Nothing is actually deleted when you delete an outline. It is removed from the list of outlines you see. However, any place that includes the outline or points into it will still have the outline to connect up with. Publishing an outline therefore is an irrevocable public act. That said, it's very useful to be able to remove it from your list.
