worldoutline favicon

A picture named clarus.gifworldOutline.root now has a favicon. I thought it would be fun to start out with Clarus, the original dogcow of the early days of the Mac. Later, if someone designs something nicer, we can have a big W or WO or an icon of an outline, or something jazzier. And if you want to replace our favicon with yours, that should be also easy to do, praise Murphy.

How to test

If you have a worldoutline website, suppose it's george.bloatware.org, try going to this URL: http://george.bloatware.org/favicon.ico.

If you see the dogcow, it's working. :-)

How to supply your own favicon

Create an image, according to the rules of favicons (I'm no expert) and load the image into config.worldOutline.prefs.customFavicon.

When serving the favicon, we'll use yours instead of ours.

One-liner

config.worldOutline.prefs.customFavicon = file.readwholefile ("ohio:clarus.gif")

Is the dogcow permanent?

Probably not. But we needed something to get started with. And I liked the historic precedent. :-)

Favicon editor

I looked at a bunch of them, and this is the one I liked best.
