River for our world

  • I need a river that just has feeds from the world we occupy.
  • It would also be instructive to go through the steps to create a new river.
  • I bet the process is klunky, and I bet it could be made super-easy.
  • 1. Create a new user with the OPML Editor menu command.
    • On houston.scripting.com, the user is frontier.
  • 2. Log on as that user.
  • 3. Go to River2.
    • I got a message: Sorry, response from scripting.com is corrupted, please try again later.
    • That's probably because my static river has yet to be built.
    • Let's see what happens when the next scan runs.
  • 4. Set up the feeds the way you like them.
    • Problem. There is no table at: config.river2.users.frontier.
    • Solution. In river2suite.firewall, if the user has a good cookie, create the table automatically. Basically once you're a user in members.root, you can become a user of any of the apps on the machine. Feedback?
    • This was accomplished with a single call to river2suite.inituser. Very simple. :-)
  • 5. Get the URL of the static river.
  • 6. Share with friends.
    • I'm going to wait until some relevant stuff shows up in there.
