Summary of today's changes
  • I just released two seemingly innocuous bits that open up a new window of functionality to people who are using the OPML Comments feature.
  • Now you can right-click in the Comments Workspace window to get the World Outline commands. This emphasizes something that might not have been clear before. The OPML Comments outlines are being rendered by the worldoutline software. This has given us a gentle path into the worldoutline, something I've been working toward for a fairly long time. :-)
  • Probably the most important new feature is the ability to set the type of a node. It's only significant on the top-level node for the comment. It defaults to comment. But now you can set it to anything you like. It gives you a way to explore the different types of objects in the worldoutline. To see the effect, click on your name to view the comment on its own page.
  • However, viewed another way there's an even bigger feature -- a new nodetype -- presentation. If all goes well, this will be released to all worldoutline servers, after a test period on my server. Not sure how long that will be. That's how bootstraps work, one step, then rest, evaluate, think -- then another step, etc.
  • BTW, a caveat -- there are sure to be some worldoutline features that don't yet work in comment windows. And of course there are some that might never work in comment windows.
  • Sometimes you want to just move ahead and "see what happens." :-)
